Configure Resource Results

Prerequisites

  • Create the resource structure if it doesn't already exist. See Create a Resource Structure. When you create the resource structure, you assign the project specific rate structure.
  • Either define unique calculation results or identify the set of results you need for your project. All projects share the common list of result names. See Manage Results.
  • Verify you are using the standard base result for labor and non labor values to configure the results for your project. The standard base results for labor and non labor values is a system level configuration setting for all projects. Resource structure results will fail to calculate correctly if these configuration settings should change. See Configuration.
  • Either define the applicable Rate Groups or verify the required Rates Groups have been defined in the assigned rate structure. See Add Rates. The assigned rate structure determines the available Rate Group dropdown selections.

  1. Select Project Data > Resources in the Navigation Menu. The Manage Resources tab window displays.
  2. Click on the Structure [Select] dropdown in the ribbon menu.
  3. Select the resource structure you want from the list.
  4. Select the Configure Results tab. Click Calculation Results. The Select Results dialog box displays. A list of the Available Results displays in the left pane.
  5. Select a Result you want to include in the left pane. Click the right arrow to add it to the list of Selected Results in the right pane. Repeat this step until you have selected all of the applicable results.
  6. Click OK. The Configure Results tab Result rows are now populated with the selected results. In instances where the Result name and a Rate Group match, the Rate Group assignment is auto populated. Rate Groups assignment typically auto populated include FTE or common overhead rates. These auto populated Rate Group assignments carry over to the Resources tab where the rate calculations are set.

    Note:

To delete a Result row, select the row and press Delete. You can click Calculation Results at any time and select other results to include in the Configure Results tab.

To clear the auto populated Rate Group assignments, click Clear Rate Groups.

  7. As needed, change the order of the calculated Result rows to match how rates should be applied. Typically, the first row is the FTE result, the second row is the labor hours result, and the third row is the direct cost result. Subsequent rows should reflect the order overheads or fees are applied to the direct costs. Select the row you want and then click Up or Down to move the row to the desired position.
  8. For each Result row, enter a Unit name or short description such as "FTE" (FTE Result row), "Hours" (labor hours Result row), or "Dollars" (for direct and indirect cost Result rows).
  9. As needed for each Result row, select the Rate Group assignment from the dropdown. Typically these are only set for common calculations such as FTE and overhead rates. Resource specific rates such as labor rates are set at the resource level using the Resources tab.
  10. For each Result row, click the Currency box to identify which results are cost values such as direct and indirect costs. These settings also carry over to the Resources tab. They can only be set in the Configure Results tab.
  11. Click Save in the Ribbon Menu.

What to Do Next
